In recent weeks, Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for system operation and electricity transmission in Spain, has completed expansion works on four key sub-stations to supply electricity to the region and integrate renewable energies.

The 400 kV sub-stations in Ciudad Rodrigo, Grijota, and Tordesillas, as well as the 220 kV Valladolid Nuevo sub-station, have been expanded with new bays that give these infrastructures additional capacity for the integration of renewable energies. 

These measures will enable Red Eléctrica to contribute to establishing the region as a renewable powerhouse in our country, as the national leader in installed renewable capacity with over 96% of its generation fleet. It also improves its capacity to efficiently integrate the abundant renewable resources in the territory. These actions are included in the Electricity Planning 2021-2026, approved by a decision of the Council of Ministers, which will serve to improve supply in the territory, boost the economy, and advance the energy transition process.

The work has been carried out with the least possible impact on the environment, taking into account the existing natural and cultural heritage and implementing the necessary preventive measures for its proper integration into the surroundings.
