Discover what Red Eléctrica is, what we do, and why we are the backbone of the electricity system in Spain and the ecological transition.
Electricity Control Centres
Electricity Control Centres
Our control centres are the brain of the electrical system. It manages electricity in real-time, 24 hours a day, to ensure reaches different supply points whenever it is needed.
Precision and Neutrality in Real-Time
From our control centres, we guarantee the correct operation of the Spanish electricity system.
The Electricity Control Centre (Cecoel), located in Madrid, is the hub from which electricity is managed in real-time: it is responsible for the coordinated operation and supervision of the Spanish electrical system's generation and transmission facilities around the clock, to maintain the constant balance between energy production and demand. To achieve this, it receives, analyses, and processes around 240,000 data points every moment.
Additionally, we have control centres in the Balearic and Canary Islands, from which we operate the electricity and ensure the proper functioning of the electrical system in these territories.
