We are the sole transmission system operator (TSO) for the Spanish electricity system and Redeia’s flagship.

We put our experience and our teams' talent at the service of the country's sustainable development. This service orientation translates into a threefold role:

We transmit electrical power from generation points to the distribution grid (and in some cases, to large consumption centres).

We guarantee a continuous, safe, and high-quality electricity supply nationwide, at all times. 

We contribute to making the supply increasingly renewable, maximising its integration into the system while ensuring safety at all times. 

In short, we are responsible for ensuring that electricity is always available wherever you need it and for making it sustainable by promoting renewable energies. For all these reasons, Red Eléctrica is the backbone of the electricity system in Spain and the cornerstone of the ecological transition process that the country is undergoing.

This is the result of four decades of effort, commitment, and excellence from our teams. Thanks to them, Red Eléctrica today is a diverse, innovative company, at the forefront of sustainability, committed to the environment and the general interest.

Internationally, our role is known as TSO or Transmission System Operator. As such, we are members of ENTSO-E, the European Association of Transmission System Operators. Together, we are progressing towards a more integrated and decarbonised European electricity system. We also participate in other national and European Union organisations and associations that are key players in the electricity sector.
