The ‘Opera Scholarship Programme’ includes both theoretical and practical training at Red Eléctrica, along with other educational sessions defined by the University Foundation of Las Palmas and certified by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electrical system in Spain, has launched the ‘Opera Scholarship Programme’ in the Canary Islands together with the University Foundation of Las Palmas. The programme aims to help engineering graduates enter the labour market through a theoretical-practical path that combines training and first-hand practical experience in a real work environment.
This paid scholarship programme is being conducted for the first time in the Canary Islands. It includes a stage of practical classes at Red Eléctrica’s premises and four additional training sessions defined by the University Foundation of Las Palmas and certified by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. These sessions aim to enhance skills in areas related to sustainability, digital transformation, innovation, and other transversal competences.
Participants will be supervised by a mentor from Red Eléctrica and another from the University Foundation of Las Palmas, with personalized follow-up to ensure the success of the experience.
To apply for the Opera Scholarship Programme in the Canary Islands, candidates must have completed a university degree in any engineering field or be finishing their final degree project, be of legal age, and be under 30 years old. If over 30, no more than 2 years should have passed since obtaining their academic degree (graduate or postgraduate). Additionally, candidates must not have worked in positions that normally require a degree since graduation.
The programme is scheduled to begin in September 2024 and will last for a total of six months.
