The demand for electrical energy falls 5% in January

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of January is estimated at 21,519 GWh, a value 5% less than that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula fell 3.2% with regard to the figure for January 2015.

Generation coming from wind power in the first 29 days of the month totaled 5,327 GWh, a value 25.7% higher than the same period last year, and represented 26.9% of total production.

In the month of January, using data available at 29 January, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 46.4% of production.

68.2% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
