Demand for electrical energy falls 1% in January
The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of January, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, dropped 1% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 21,961 GWh, a value 2.6% below the figure for January 2013.

Production coming from wind power during the month reached 6,628 GWh, 5.4% higher than the same period last year, and represented 29.7% of the total production.
In the month of January, generation from renewable energy sources represented 51.7% of production.
70.2% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
