Demand for electrical energy increases 1.1% in October

  • So far in 2018, demand has grown by 1% year on year.
  • 59% of the electricity production in October came from technologies that do not emit CO2.

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of October stood at 20,391 GWh, a value 1.1% higher than that registered in the same month last year. After having factored in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula increased 0.3% compared to October 2017.

In the first ten months of 2018, the demand for electricity on the Spanish Peninsula is estimated at 211,487 GWh, a value 1% higher than in 2017. After factoring in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity remains at 1%.

Generation coming from wind power in the month of October reached 4,322 GWh, a value 35.6% higher than the same month last year, and represented 20.6% of total production.

Generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 33.4% of total production in the month of October.

59% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies that do not emit CO2.
