Demand for electrical energy increases 3.4% in September
The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of September is estimated at 20,821 GWh, a value 3.4% higher than that registered in the same month last year. Even after factoring in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula maintained an increase of 3.4% compared to September 2017.
In the first nine months of 2018, the demand for electricity on the Spanish Peninsula is estimated at 191,279 GWh, a value 1% higher than in 2017. After factoring in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity is 1.2% higher when compared to the same period last year.
Using the most up-to-date information available, generation coming from wind power in the month of September reached 2,396 GWh, a value 15% less than the same month last year, and represented 12.1% of total production.
In the month of September, according to estimated data, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 29.8% of total production.
55.2% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
