Red Eléctrica commissions the San Miguel de Salinas-Torrevieja line and the Torrevieja substation in Alicante
- The company has invested 44 million euros in the development of these facilities
Red Eléctrica de España has completed the construction and comissioning of both the 220-kilovolt Torrevieja substation and the line that connects this facility with that of San Miguel de Salinas. These facilities are necessary to reinforce the supply to the Torrevieja desalination plant and ensure it operates at peak performance.
The company has invested 44 million euros in the development of these facilities, the commissioning of which will also help cover the energy needs of a potential future expansion of the Torrevieja desalination plant and support the area’s distribution network, thereby enhancing the quality and reliability of the power electricity supply in the area.
Complying with its commitments, on 8 August Red Eléctrica commissioned both the Torrevieja substation and the 220-kV San Miguel de Salinas-Torrevieja double circuit line, which is now ready to be connected to the planned utilities.
Given its compact technology, the substation is housed within a building and has been integrated into the surrounding landscape.
Construction on the 13-km San Miguel de Salinas-Torrevieja double circuit line, half of which runs underground before arriving in Torrevieja, was completed in July of this year.
