For 40 years, we've been driving our country's economic and social progress. Four decades shaping Spain.
Red Eléctrica commissions its substation in Masdenverge to support economic development in the Ebro Basin
The new substation will cover the expansion of the Cataluña Sur Industrial Estate and improve the supply to cities such as Tortosa and Amposta.
Besides this project, Red Eléctrica is working with the Municipal Council of Masdenverge to install a solar facility to pump the town's drinking water supply.
Red Eléctrica, the subsidiary of Redeia that is responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, has completed and commissioned the new 400 kV Masdenverge substation. The new transmission grid infrastructure is intended to serve and improve demand in the Ebro Basin, particularly the Cataluña Sur Industrial Estate and the towns of Tortosa and Amposta, reinforcing the transmission grid throughout the area.
With this achievement, Red Eléctrica has increased the possibilities of expanding the industrial estate by ensuring the necessary electrical supply for the development of increased activity, boosting business, industrial development, and job creation.
Red Eléctrica has invested €8 million in this new infrastructure, which falls within the current electrical planning approved in March 2022 by the Council of Ministers. Specifically, in Catalonia, this Planning includes over €400 million in investment, primarily to further establish its leadership in the industrial sector through support for the electrical supply.
Besides this project, and as part of the company’s Impact Strategy, Red Eléctrica will also finance a self-consumption installation to operate the pumps that extract the town’s water supply. This efficient self-supply solution will provide significant public expenditure savings and promote the implementation of clean energy in the municipal area.
