Red Eléctrica, the Redeia company responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, has completed building work for the new 400 kV substation in Campos del Río (Murcia), which will help to drive the ecological transition and decarbonisation of the system by integrating new renewable energy projects.

Red Eléctrica has invested 6.6 million euros in building this new infrastructure that is joined to the grid by an overhead line that connects to the 400 kV El Palmar-Rocamora axis, which runs close to the substation itself.

The construction of these infrastructures enables Red Eléctrica to connect the various photovoltaic plants that are being built in the area around the town and to honour its commitment to the economic and social development of the region by carrying out the projects included in the current electricity planning that was approved by the Council of Ministers in 2022.

At the same time, Redeia has also provided financial support for improving a sport and leisure facility in the town as part of the company’s Comprehensive Impact Strategy, to create shared social value in the areas where it operates. These improvements in the sports facilities were inaugurated last November and contribute to the growth of the town by expanding the range of services available for local people.
