This Thursday, Red Eléctrica and Puertollano City Council signed a cooperation agreement whereby Redeia's subsidiary will carry out works to provide outdoor lighting in an area heavily frequented by the local population and visitors to the town.

In the framework of Red Eléctrica's commitment to add value to the territory and encourage energy efficiency, the agreement entails the installation of 50 light fittings with LED technology and solar self-consumption on the Parque Pozo Norte road leading to the Puertollano Mining Museum, located to the south of the town in an old mining shaft.

Parque Pozo Norte (North Shaft Park) is a 20-hectare site which is important to the history and mining past of the region that receives more than 6,000 visitors every year. Now it will be illuminated, thus improving road safety for citizens while taking the town further along the path of the ecological transition.

During the signing event, the representative of Red Eléctrica in Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Crego, said that this work, with a total budget of 64,000 euros, shows the company's commitment to the territories where it is present through collaborating in different initiatives that have a positive impact.'

Meanwhile, Puertollano mayor Miguel Ángel Ruiz praised the cooperation between Redeia and the City Council as an example of 'how companies can contribute to improving the city environment by investing in clean, sustainable technology,' remarking on the importance of this type of shared initiatives to enhance the city. 'The project will make the park safer for everyone, with minimum environmental impact to move towards a greener and more sustainable city,' he concluded.
