Connections for reindustrialisation

In the first week of November, Red Eléctrica will start work on the new 220kV sub-station in Saguntum, an essential part of the industrial development of the Region of Valencia

Following the inclusion of the project in the planning modifications (MAPs) in April, Red Eléctrica started the authorisation process and has been working intensely to enable the work to begin in the very near future.

The works will start after obtaining the Environmental Impact Statement, Prior Administrative Authorisation, Administrative Authorisation for Construction, and the Declaration of Public Utility, all of which are issued by the Council of the Regional Government of Valencia.

Red Eléctrica will start work in the first week of November on the construction work for the new 220kV sub-station in Saguntum. This is a strategic infrastructure for the economic and industrial development of the Region of Valencia and is essential for the viability of the new investments announced for Sagunto.

The project was included in the Planning Modifications 21-26 (MAPs) approved this year by the Council of Ministers. Red Eléctrica began the project authorisation process immediately after the Saguntum sub-station was added to the existing electricity plans in April.

Construction work was able to start so soon because Red Eléctrica worked intensely on it as soon as the planning modifications were published, including detailed engineering and the supply of materials and permits for the building work, once the necessary authorisations have been obtained. Specifically, this refers to the Environmental Impact Statement, Prior Administrative Authorisation, Administrative Authorisation for Construction, and the Declaration of Public Utility issued by the Council of the Regional Government of Valencia. This preliminary work makes it possible to reduce the project schedule so that it can be operational in 2026.

The sub-station forms part of a series of infrastructures that require Red Eléctrica to invest around 62 million euros to provide an electricity supply that ensures the viability of the significant investments in Sagunto announced by the automotive industry, associated with the transformation of mobility. This means that it will contribute to the economic vitality of the province of Valencia and exert a powerful driving force for the whole business and industrial sector of the Region of Valencia.
