Fault on the Las Salinas-Gran Tarajal electricity line in the south of Fuerteventura
- Red Eléctrica’s maintenance technicians worked all night to repair the fault.
A localised fault on the 66 kV Las Salinas-Gran Tarajal line has interrupted the electricity supply and has affected the 66 kV substations of Gran Tarajal and Matas Blancas, and the 132 kV substations of Matas Blancas and Jares, located in the south of Fuerteventura, causing a loss of 44 MW in demand, which in turn had an impact on 23% of the demand coverage at the time of the incident.
Red Eléctrica’s maintenance technicians have been working throughout the night to repair the fault, which occurred at a transition point from an underground cable section to an overhead section of the line, in order to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible. Around 10% of the distribution network service has already been restored.
The 66 kV Las Salinas-Gran Tarajal single-circuit line is the only existing line to meet the electricity demand in the area.
REE regrets any inconvenience this incident may have caused to users and expects to completely restore the electricity supply shortly.
