The Red Eléctrica group has joined the 'STEAM Alliance for female talent. Girls on a scientific footing', an initiative put forward by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in connection with the Arts and Humanities) vocations in girls and young women.

The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, and the Group’s chairwoman, Beatriz Corredor, met today at the headquarter of Ministry to sign this allegiance and address issues of common interest and other avenues of collaboration. 

“It is a pleasure to have the Red Eléctrica Group on board in this STEAM Alliance that we are involved in. We need to join forces and count on all female talent to make the most of the digital, scientific and technological revolution in which we are immersed", highlighted the Minister Pilar Alegría. "We continue to call on companies, the media and institutions to join this initiative and help us break the STEAM gender gap", she added.

For her part, Beatriz Corredor stated that "women continue to be the minority in sectors that have historically been male dominated, such as the energy and telecommunications sectors, to which the Red Eléctrica Group belongs. These sectors will be key in the transition to a sustainable, fair and inclusive development model, and they need the talent of everyone. We have joined the STEAM Alliance to introduce more and more young girls to the study of the sciences, just as we will continue to place emphasis on the recruitment and promotion of these profiles in our company".

The ‘STEAM Alliance for Female Talent. Girls on a scientific footing' initiative was unveiled by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training a year ago. Since then, almost a hundred companies, organisations, associations and other entities have joined in.

Its mission is to promote specific initiatives that contribute to shaping an education and training system that eliminates gender stereotypes associated with certain vocations and professions, that promotes female empowerment in STEAM disciplines from early stages of education and contributes to eliminating the gender gap. It is making headway thanks to the access of our young women to these disciplines, as is occurring at an international level.
