EntreREDes educational days: education geared towards a sustainable energy model

EntreREDes is a digital game created by Red Eléctrica as an educational tool for students in second, third or fourth year of secondary school (ESO) which allows them to better understand how the electricity system works in a fun and interactive way. In addition, the game offers added value since students can, at the same time, review the contents of the school curriculum learnt in class.

During 2016 and 2017, more than 8,370 students played entreREDes through the educational activities programme that Red Eléctrica organised in collaboration with institutions and educational and cultural entities.

‘A highway behind the wall socket’ Exhibition

A highway behind the wall socket is an interactive exhibition aimed at explaining how electricity is produced, transported, becomes visible and how electricity systems are operated; in short, what happens from the moment electricity is generated until it reaches our homes.

In this exhibition, we invite visitors to take part, discover and experiment with electricity and learn about the electricity supply process, and we show citizens how they can use energy more efficiently. The travelling exhibition began its tour in 2010 and since then has visited eight cities, during this period more than 440,000 people have visited the exhibition.

Global Social Responsibility Plan in the municipalities of Teruel and Castellón

In connection with the construction of the Mezquita-Morella and Mudéjar-Morella power lines, Red Eléctrica designed in 2015 a specific Social Responsibility Plan for the 22 municipalities of Teruel and Castellón through which these power lines run.

This plan encompasses a set of initiatives of a social, cultural and environmental nature with the aim of creating value in the municipalities involved in the project, through the implementation of concrete plans during 2015 and 2016.

The definition of the actions that make up the Plan were carried out through a joint evaluation process of proposals in each of the municipalities, based on criteria for the creation of value for society, the environment and local heritage.

Movilab, a scientific laboratory on wheels

Red Eléctrica collaborated in 2015 with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Padrosa Foundation on the Movilab project, a mobile laboratory installed in the trailer of a truck which toured 13 Spanish cities with the aim of bringing science and innovation closer to the citizens of these cities. The route of the Movilab began in La Coruna on 22 September and concluded on 27 December 2015 at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid.

The goal of this travelling laboratory, was to present scientific concepts in both an entertaining and rigorous manner, trying to arouse the curiosity of society regarding research in the field of science and innovation. The workshops consisted of activities related to both light and its physical principles, as well as electricity transmission. Thus, visitors had the opportunity to make a light bulb or a fluorescent tube with household materials, and learn about the elements that are part of electricity lines, such as conductor cables, bird saving devices and insulators, among other activities.

You will find all the information about the project on the Movilab website (only available in Spanish).
