Demand for electrical energy falls 2.1% in January

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of January is estimated at 22,635 GWh, a value 2.1% down on than that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula fell 2% compared to January 2017.

In January, generation coming from wind power reached 5,300 GWh, a value 10.5% higher than the same month last year and represented 24.7% of total production.

In the month of January, using data available as at 31 January, it is estimated that 38.8% of total production came from renewable energy sources.

62.2% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
